Mosquitto_pub between two TailScale Home Assistant hosts?

Should this be possible?

1. mosquitto_pub -h 192.168.x.y -t heading/subheading -m "message" -u user -P password
2. mosquitto_pub -h 100.x.y.z -t heading/subheading -m "message" -u user -P password
3. mosquitto_pub -h ha-home.tailad0535.ts.net -t heading/subheading -m "message" -u user -P password

1. Works - local net
2. & 3. do not.

Do you have userspace-networking disabled? Do you have MagicDNS configured as upstream server for HA's DNS (see docs on how to do it)? Then it should work.

docker exec -it `docker ps -q -f name=mosquitto` /bin/bash
apt-get update
apt-get install iputils-ping
ping ha-home.tailad0535.ts.net
apt-get install netcat-openbsd
nc -zv ha-home.tailad0535.ts.net 1883

Restart mosquitto app to clean up the effect of the apt-get commands above.
