Major Session Flow Redesign

We've completely overhauled how sessions work to make the bot feel more natural and streamlined!

/start Command Redesign

The old flow required you to specify your activity upfront:

  • ❌ Old: /start activity:Studying Math

The new flow is much simpler - just start your session:

  • ✅ New: /start - Start an open-ended session
  • ✅ New: /start hours:2 - Start a 2-hour timed session
  • ✅ New: /start minutes:30 - Start a 30-minute timer

You fill in the details when you finish! When you use /stop, you'll get a modal to add:

  • Activity (what you worked on)
  • Title (optional short description)
  • Description (optional detailed notes)
  • Duration (auto-filled, but editable)
  • Intensity (1-5 scale)

This makes starting a session instant - no need to think about titles or descriptions before you begin. Just start working and reflect on what you accomplished afterwards.

Session Editing

Made a mistake? Need to correct your time or intensity? We've got you covered:

  • Edit any completed session through button interactions
  • Automatic XP recalculation when you change duration or intensity
  • Stats and leaderboards update automatically
  • Feed posts regenerate with the new information

The bot handles all the complex XP math behind the scenes, including:

  • Recalculating base XP from the new duration/intensity
  • Applying group bonuses (if you're in a group)
  • Applying level bonuses (0.1% per user level)
  • Applying achievement bonuses (see below!)
  • Updating all affected stats and streaks

Leveled Achievement System

Introducing 4 core achievements with a Duolingo-style progression system!

Each achievement has 10 levels, and each level grants +0.1% permanent XP boost. That's a total of +4.0% XP boost when you max out all achievements!

The Four Achievements

📚 Scholar - Total hours studied

  • Level 1: 10 hours
  • Level 5: 250 hours
  • Level 10: 10,000 hours

⚡ Marathon Runner - Longest single session

  • Level 1: 1 hour
  • Level 5: 8 hours
  • Level 10: 24 hours

🔥 Wildfire - Longest streak

  • Level 1: 1 day
  • Level 5: 60 days
  • Level 10: 1,000 days

🏆 Champion - User level

  • Level 1: Level 1
  • Level 5: Level 35
  • Level 10: Level 125

View your progress with /achievements - it shows beautiful progress bars for each achievement with your current level and XP boost contribution.

Level-Based XP Bonus

Your user level now matters even more! You get +0.1% XP bonus per level for all XP earned.

  • Level 1: +0.1% XP
  • Level 10: +1.0% XP
  • Level 20: +2.0% XP
  • Level 50: +5.0% XP
  • Level 100: +10.0% XP

This stacks with your achievement bonuses and group bonuses, creating a powerful compound progression system!

Example: A level 25 user with Scholar at level 5 and Marathon Runner at level 3 would have:

  • Level bonus: +2.5% (25 × 0.1%)
  • Scholar bonus: +0.5% (5 × 0.1%)
  • Marathon Runner bonus: +0.3% (3 × 0.1%)
  • Total: +3.3% XP bonus on everything!

Bug Fixes & Polish

  • Fixed timer auto-posting to properly wait 10 minutes before posting to feed
  • Made timer duration labels use singular form (e.g., "2-hour" instead of "2-hours")
  • Added backwards compatibility for sessions created before the redesign
  • Removed old time-based achievements (replaced with leveled system)
  • Fixed XP recalculation to properly account for all bonus sources
  • Improved session title generation for auto-posted timer sessions
  • Added seconds parameter to /start for testing purposes

Quality of Life Improvements

  • Session titles are now shorter and cleaner on auto-posted timer sessions
  • Timer edit buttons stay clickable and provide better user feedback
  • Live session notifications no longer truncate usernames unnecessarily
  • Better error handling throughout the session flow
  • Improved modal validation for duration and intensity fields

This update sets the foundation for an even more engaging progression system. The combination of user levels, leveled achievements, and group bonuses creates multiple paths to boost your XP gains and encourages consistent daily practice!
