We recently activated the GitHub-Zenodo integration to provide unique DOIs for each release of icepyx (as well as an overall DOI). To get existing releases into Zenodo, we manually triggered them. A few issues with pushing old releases (e.g. here) resulted in versions <=0.6.4 being out of order and the wrong version marked as "current", but hopefully this will be fixed moving forward with new releases. A few parts of this process still need streamlining though:

  • What is the best practice for author list with each release? Every author who has ever contributed? Authors since the last release? UPDATE: explicit "best practices" in space are somewhat limited and project-specific. See, for example, this discussion.
  • We need to manually update the records in Zenodo to reflect an accurate author list.
  • We should also figure out how to (e.g by adding a .zenodo.json) accurately list authors and any other metadata automatically.
