How to seed pre-downloaded torrent?

I was wondering on the desktop version, but now i'm facing the problem using librqbit directly.

When i do:

    let managed_torrent_handle = session.add_torrent(
       AddTorrent::from_local_filename("tests/hello/hello.torrent").unwrap(),

I get:

called `Result::unwrap()` on an `Err` value: error creating a new file (because allow_overwrite = false) "tests/hello/hello"

I tried setting paused: true with the same result.

There are several use-cases involved, one of them is migrating from another torrent client. In this specific case however, i'd like to start seeding in library tests with various settings to check that everything works fine under different scenarios (PEX, IPv4 tracker, IPv6 tracker, etc).

In this specific case i was able to get around it by simply setting the folder to some place which does not contain the actual file. That's because i was only testing metadata exchange (one peer has .torrent with meta info, other peer has only magnet).

I'm still curious how to start seeding without redownloading everything :)

Just set overwrite: true when adding. This will let librqbit write to files that it didn't create

Not sure if the desktop/ webui do that, I believe they do but I might be wrong

Yes i think that works correctly, thank you. I'll open a PR to document this behavior, but maybe in the future it would be good to support read-only files? Both from a POSIX perspective of not trying to acquire write before actually writing data ( error opening "tests/hello/hello" in read/write mode) and maybe from an API perspective being able to set a read-only param either per-torrent or globally.

I'll close this issue when the docs are updated.

I'm sorry it's already sort of documented on dev branch. I was looking at the release docs on docs.rs. I made a small modification in #515 to be very explicit that even when seeding an existing file, overwrite needs to be set.
