To evaluate is to assign an organizing value to a relationship between two elements within a specific context.
Evaluations can be nominal or ordinal, or be based on quantitative or interval measurement. The relevance of each of these types of evaluation depends upon many organizing variables.
Evaluations of relationships, including descriptions, can be used to relate media items by the perceived relevance of (explicit or implicit) criteria such as merit, significance or priority of relationships in a specific context. For example, we can (and often do) explicitly or implicitly evaluate statements including claims.
