Amazon is forcing two factor verification challenge on Visa/MC debit cards

I am getting a two factor verification screen intermittently on Mastercard and Visa debit cards with amazon. I manually verified the card and was able to process the first two transactions before it challenged again. the window is labeled Mastercard ID Check. Is there a workaround for this?

I stopped getting challenged for visa debit cards after a week or so. Must be some sort of fraud check.
