What problem are you trying to solve?

In #14513, a user already asked for stereo sound while screen sharing.
Someone commented, that "it's not currently possible because even if you enable the stereo audio setting, we mix the audio from the screen with the local microphone using a single channel."

Then, unfortunately, the initial author closed the issue.
(I can't reopen #14513, otherwise I wouldn't have created a new issue.)

Are there any plans on adding this functionality at some point?

A solid stereo sound while screen sharing is the main reason why I can't use Jitsi Meet for all of my calls at the moment.
I would like to completely use Jitsi, but as someone working with audio, I depend on sound that is at least "okay".
In my eyes, it really is the biggest downside of Jitsi right now.
I would absolutely love to use Jitsi all the time, if it wouldn't be for the constant low quality mono audio while screen sharing.

I hope that this can be implemented, and if I can help in any way I would be happy to do so. 😊

What solution would you like to see?

Of course, you can't expect high-quality sound from real-time web meetings... none of the commercial solutions can do that.
But a super-high-quality audio stream is not the goal here.

I'm more looking at something similar to Zoom's "Original Audio for Musicians"... basically stereo audio with a little bit less compression/processing. That already would be enough.

I hope that this can be implemented, and if I can help in any way I would be happy to do so. 😊

I have a similar request regarding higher quality audio and am hoping for the same feature. I saw screenshots from one user who said they figured out a way to add in such a feature, but when one of the lovely beautiful Jitsi contributors requested and welcomed a pull request, the thread went silent back in, I think, 2020. I suspect they kept that feature for themselves and never contributed it back, or it didn't work out. I'm not a coder, but I would love to contribute to this effort if at all possible.
