Help using kad DHT for peer discovery

I'm trying to set up a network with 3 nodes. One of them is a bootstrap node and the other two are regular nodes. The regular nodes correctly connect to the boostrap node but there is no exchange of known peers. Im trying to use the DHT for peer discovery but I think I'm missing something on how to use it. Any help is apreciated.
