v0.5.5-alpha
To those who are trying Acorn for the first time we suggest reading the guidelines for using Acorn alpha version prior to serious use.
Our latest release v0.5.5-alpha brings Windows support (+ Mac & Linux)! Plus some great new features including "Top Priority".
We've also upgraded this latest release to Holochain v0.0.109 (from v0.0.100). If you've already been using Acorn, you will notice significant performance improvements with this upgrade (like faster project syncing).
If you’d like to use this new release and keep your data from the previous version, please make sure to export each of your projects you want to keep in JSON format and import them after you download the new version of the app. Again, you will have to recreate your user profile, which is unavoidable at this time. A simplified version upgrade experience will come at a later time.
Installation Instructions
Scroll down and find the attached application file that is for your operating system. Download it, launch it, and follow any instructions it provides at launch (making note of platform specific instructions below that you will need to launch it).
Linux = Acorn-0.5.5-alpha.AppImage
MacOS (v10.14 and up) = Acorn-0.5.5-alpha.dmg
Windows = Acorn.Setup.0.5.5-alpha.exe
Note, Installing on MacOS v10.13 has a known issue, and will not launch properly
NOTE: MacOS users (unlike in the past) will have to bypass the security precautions MacOS employs while opening the application, due to issues with our build system, which will be resolved soon. To open Acorn, right-click on the application file, and click 'Open'. If you do not do this you will get an 'Unverified Developer' warning that you can't bypass.
NOTE: Windows users, there is NO need for WSL2 (linux subsystem) as previously stated that there might be.

Update release.yml
v0.5.2-alpha
Acorn release version 0.5.2-alpha packs some wonderful features. If you were using Acorn v0.5.1-alpha, you will want to export each of your projects as JSON, and re-import them to this version.
If you use Mac, note that this Mac build is not 'signed' by the Apple Developer Account, this means handling the 'Unverified Developer' warning. When opening Acorn, be sure to Right Click on the app icon, then click 'Open'. Click 'Open' again when it warns you about the Developer.
Mac users download the .dmg
Linux users download the .AppImage
Changes
changed
- creating a "child" card has changed: you now click and drag on the purple circle icon that appears beneath a Card when you hover over it, and drag it onto the empty canvas to create a new child Goal. You still take that same action to connect it to an existing Goal. Previously you would select a Goal, then hold down
G
and click on the open canvas.
added
- the ability to use a "Universal" priority mode, where everyone in a project must be in consensus on what is the top priority. Priority view becomes a ranked list of top priorities. Priority Goals have radiant auras on the Map view. You can switch between this Priority Mode and the other 'Vote Based' mode at any time and back without data loss
- You can 're-parent' a Goal, by clicking on the purple circle icon immediately above the card you want to re-parent, and drag it to the Goal you wish to make its new parent
- It nicely animates the adding of new goal cards, their removal, and tree in general anytime the tree changes, due to your actions or your collaborators
fixed
- bugs with the Priority View in Vote Based mode
v0.5.1-alpha MacOS & Linux Release
This is the first release of Acorn since its major upgrades to offer both Linux and MacOS versions.
There are a few bug fixes since v0.5.0-alpha that have been included, as well as a substantial revision to how project joining works. There is now a way to join a project even if your peers are offline, though you will have to wait for them to be online to start working on the project.
Enjoy using fully distributed p2p projects!
Please report an issue on this repository if you experience any issues with Acorn for Linux or MacOS.
To any user, we recommend reading the guidelines for using alpha Acorn on our wiki before extensively using Acorn.
If you use Mac, download Acorn-0.5.1-alpha.dmg
If you use Linux, download Acorn-0.5.1-alpha.AppImage
Note that there is a known issue preventing Acorn from running on Ubuntu 18, we recommend against installing at this time until a fix is provided.
