Description
Summary
I am proposing two user-centered features to improve the user experience within the LINE messaging app. These features aim to address common issues that users face with managing important messages and handling notification overload. Specifically, I am suggesting the introduction of message pinning and notification keyword filtering.
Proposed Features
Pinning Important Messages:
This feature would allow users to pin important messages at the top of their chat window. By doing so, users can keep crucial information easily accessible without worrying about it getting buried under newer messages. This would be especially useful in busy group chats where key information might be overlooked.
Filtering Notifications by Keywords:
This feature would enable users to filter notifications based on specific keywords, reducing the volume of irrelevant alerts. Users could avoid being bombarded with notifications from less important group chats while ensuring they still receive notifications for critical topics. This would help reduce notification fatigue, which is especially common in large group conversations.
Reason for Proposal
Through extensive use of LINE, I have found that important messages often get lost among newer ones, particularly in group chats with high message traffic. Additionally, users frequently experience notification overload due to multiple group chats sending constant updates. These two features—pinning important messages and filtering notifications by keywords—are designed to address these problems and make it easier for users to navigate their chats effectively.
Examples from Other Messaging Apps
KakaoTalk: Offers an option to mute specific chat rooms or customize notification settings, enabling users to reduce distractions from frequent, irrelevant notifications.
Implementation Suggestions
Pinning Messages: A simple pin icon could be added next to messages, and users could select this option to pin important messages to the top of the chat window.
Notification Filtering: A new settings menu could be introduced where users can define preferred keywords for filtering notifications. This would allow users to specify which notifications are relevant to them, such as work-related updates or specific topics in group chats.
By implementing these features, LINE would greatly enhance its usability, especially for users who rely on the app for both personal and professional communication. This will ultimately contribute to a more streamlined and less overwhelming messaging experience.
Conclusion
I believe that these changes would significantly improve user satisfaction and make LINE more effective for managing high-volume chats. I appreciate your time and consideration in reviewing this feature proposal.
Thank you for considering my suggestion!
