How do I use Templates from a "normal" HACS install

The docs assume I know some things that I guess I do not know.

I've used HACS to install. Everything is working fine if I just pick a calendar card with the entity for my counsel.

How do I use/implement the templates?

value_template: '{{value.types|join(", ")}}'
value_template: 'in {{value.daysTo}} days'
value_template: 'on {{value.date.strftime("%a")}}, {{value.date.strftime("%d.%m.%Y")}}'

Not sure where I insert this?

These templates define what the configured sensor shows. If you used the GUI to configure WCS you can configure/add sensors by clicking customize next to the source you added (settings -> integrations -> WCS) the values inside the { will then be replaced by the corresponding values:

'{{value.types|join(", ")}}' => General Waste, Recycling
'in {{value.daysTo}} days' => in 3 days
'on {{value.date.strftime("%a")}}, {{value.date.strftime("%d.%m.%Y")}}' => On Monday, 10.02.2025
