TeslaUSB has stopped being recognised by my car.

Hi

I've had TeslaUSB installed and running on a Pi Zero 2 for about six months in my car. It's been running perfectly.

Over the Xmas period the device started not being recognised as a USB stick by the car. I haven't had a chance to troubleshoot until today:

I can connect to the device via ssh and by browsers
The device is connecting to my wifi and going through the archive loop process with no issues
The car, as Tesla Model 3 from 2022 running 2024.45.32.1, doesn't recognise the device at all anymore. I used to have the old "the USB device is slow" message, but now it there is nothing.

I'm assuming TeslaUSB auto updates when it connects to wifi so I believe I'm on the latest code. Is this correct?
Is anyone else having issues?

No, it does not automatically update.

Ah, OK. Would I need to reinstall to get the latest version? Given that I installed the Pi about 6 months ago, it looks like the latest image hasn't changed since 2023?

… sorry, I have updated successfully, but the device is not being recognised as a USB drive any more by my car. Anyone else having the same issue with 2024.45.32.1? I’ve attached the diagnostic output if that helps.

Are you sure you're using the correct USB connector on the Pi?
Have you tried connecting the Pi to a PC to see if it will show up as a drive there?

I have exactly the same issue! Same issue, exactly same date (over the Christmas break)

But I am definitely using the right port. As a matter of fact, I have not touched anything.
Here's the weird stuff:

1. TeslaUsb was all of a sudden not recognized any more by Tesla. Neither in the settings nor in the media player. The green power light shines though. I only randomly caught this because I realized not getting notifications any longer
2. When I plug the same setup (RPi0) in my Macbook, the drives show up
3. The original Tesla USB still works

Any advice?

I have exactly the same issue!

Are you sure? Because if you read the comments above it appears this particular problem was caused by using the wrong USB port on the Pi, so if you have exactly that same issue, that should be an easy fix 😄

Just to be clear: it should be blinking, not be constantly shining. Is it blinking?

Does the "CAM" drive still contain a "TeslaCam" folder?

I think it's actually constantly shining (at least after a brief time initially). I tried plugging it again into a laptop and all of a sudden, drives don't show up here any more either.

Indeed, starting from Jan 1 (just after I can back from long Christmas break) I started to getting the following errors in the log:

sfdisk: cannot open /backingfiles/cam_disk.bin: Input/output error
mount: /mnt/cam: unknown filesystem type ''.

Here is the diagnostics.log but I stripped a lot in the middle because the whole thing was 90MB:

What could be the reason for this?
And the best way to fix, if possible without setting it up from scratch again?

The /mutable partition is completely full, and the /backingfiles filesystem is corrupted. This isn't really recoverable, so unfortunately I think starting over from scratch is the best option. Since the Pi is still accessible, you can copy the current config file off of it and re-use it for a fresh install.
