whatsdesktop whatsapp works with google chrome 49+ #18

Please succinctly describe your issue and steps to reproduce it.

I was yesterday using whatsdesktop. My chrome version is 80.

Steps to reproduce:

  • boot today
  • start WhatsDesktop. It show that there is a new whatsapp update
  • click on whatsapp update

Expected result:

  • it reloads and show whatsapp.

Obtained result:

WhatsDesktop 1.8.0
linux x64 4.19.0-8-amd64 <-- debian buster

I have the same problem on Elementary OS, everything is up to date and up until recently the app worked just fine, now it shows the same message.

Electron probably needs to be updated

my version WhatsDesktop 1.8.0, linux x64 5.6.13-200.fc31.x86_64
yeah this morning the whatsdesktop show me the same message ..., I fix it with and starting all over again , scan the QR code etc ...

cd ~/.config/
rm -rf WhatsDesktop/

To fix this, we just need delete one file (Network Persistent State), at least for me with my pull request applied

rm ~/.config/WhatsDesktop/Network\ Persistent\ State

rm -rf ~/.config/WhatsDesktop/Service\ Worker/ seem to work , don't forget close session in your mobile also
