GPD Win Mini 8840U custom TDP is not being set

As title says
Device: GPD Win Mini 2024 8840U
Distro: CachyOS
Noticed when playing around with the TDP to preserve battery life, changed to low values but TDP was still very high and performance wasn't dropping
I see there are errors in the log about setting TDP
Any ideas? Anything else i could provide?

Maybe CachyOS has built-in support TDP via QAM now. Just guessing. Maybe this clashes?

I saw they included drivers for Zotac Zone recently and it's also using the 8840. Have to test with the Zone device.

Yes i thought so too, should be covered by steamosmanager package, but i only get GPU freq control. Either way i am planning to do a reinstall of Cachy as i think i mightve done something wrong in the first place

CachyOS was a disaster for me. I managed to install python-yaml to make PowerControl to at least open but then it read the sensors wrong so I gave up on it. but I might have messed up something too. Cachy is something special.

Please let me know how it goes, I will test it myself someday again.

I had to do this in the terminal so the plugin would even load on CachyOS. sudo pacman -S python-yaml Maybe it was even sudo pacman -S python python-pip python-yaml

I was super pissed that I have to do so much post installation stuff that I switched back to SteamOS. 🤣

I see, i personally installed it as i just like having access to a normal Arch install, i am having a rock solid experience on my desktop and my Mini apart from this, but i guess everyone has their preferences.
Anyway, sorry for the delay, but ive reinstalled Cachy handheld, works just fine now. Apart from that i think the cause may have been the use of "game-performance" command line argument. but i cant consistently get it to not work, but either way perf increase was pretty much 0 in my case so doesn't matter.
Heres a new log file. In it i see that ryzen_smu isnt present, compared to last time so maybe it was installed by some package as a dependency when i was messing around.
It has errors about failing to set TDP, but the TDP is set, tested it using stress testing tools and its obeying the set TDP, changing it around also sets it to the desired TDP almost immediately now. Same with starting games /w per game options enabled.
Should i close the issue?
