I was wondering today if Palia would ran better using DXMT than D3DMetal from GPTK3, so i decided to build a support for wine-staging from gcenix and DXMT on branch dmxt-support
My test setup
- MBP M3 pro with 36GB memory + 4k external display (only displaying on external monitor)
- MacOS 15.7.5
- Palia v0.201.0, running on medium settings
- Wine staging 11.5, DXMT 0.72
I decided to run on medium settings, as the "auto quality set" when running on Wine Staging set automatically everything to "Epic" lol. My benchmark was just looking at city center on Kilima Valley, after waiting ~3-5 minutes for shaders to compile

I'm also not sure if i setup the wine environment correctly - as the chat was not working - just showing error "Invalid state", so it might be that i was missing some dependencies?
Despite the lower FPS, running on DXMT felt a bit less stuttery, but for now i will stick with GPTK3.
If anyone is actually reading this, and have more knowledge about setting up wine environment - let me know what i might done wrong, or if this is common for UE4 games?
