Can't use some names for options

I've tried to use a few common names for options that haven't worked with optarg. Examples
- `-1`, eg to specify output on one line
- `-A`, eg to turn off whatever `-a` does
- punctuation, like `-?`
- other capital letters, like `-D`

What would it take to support those as options? I'm happy to assist in adding those capabilities if you're interested.
