Trouble with CANine driver - Ubuntu 22, kernel 6.2.0

I'm having driver trouble getting my CANine up and running with ubuntu 22. I've installed the Peak Systems PCAN USB driver:
sudo modprobe peak_usb
and the kernel module seems to load ok. However no network interface is created when I connect the CANine device via a USB port.
ip link show
shows my ethernet, local loopback and the docker network interfaces, but nothing for CAN.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious, but I can't quite see what...

The short answer is I should have been using the getting started guide at canable.io, not the getting started guide at Peak Systems. Not sure quite how I got this far off track, but it's pretty obvious now.
