is Lcapy suitable for acoustic modelling?

Hi,

I have sort of a broad question about Lcapy. I would like to model acoustic circuits, which uses acoustic resistance/capacitance/inductance components. The behavior is identical, but the units are different.

Yes, you can do this with Lcapy.

Lcapy can analyse mechanical components (mass, spring, damper) but it uses the mobility electromechanical analogue rather than the impedance analogue commonly used for transducers (see the Lcapy docs). Unfortunately, the latter analogue does not work with the nodal nature of netlists.

Instead, I suggest you convert the mechanical parts of your systems to electrical impedances (you may wish to use an ideal transformer for the electrical to mechanical conversion). I have done something similar for the modelling of piezoelectric transducers with the KLM model (see Lcapy docs). You need to be careful with the impedance analogue since series combinations of mechanical components need to be treated as parallel combinations of electrical components and vice-versa.
