Feature Summary:
Is your proposal related to a problem?
PSX games were designed for CRT monitors, which would display pixelated graphics in ways that are impossible on modern displays. CRT shaders like CRT Royale (or others) might be able to mitigate this. Right now, these are only possible using injectors like sweetfx.
Furthermore, these kinds of implementations often break when resolutions are changed, and require quite precise settings to display properly.
Describe the solution you'd like
Some kind of internal shader support for one or more custom CRT filters, as well as default and custom options for scaling would be a great addition, and something no other emulator does.
If a system for scaling shaders is put in place, both default and custom values for dithering, scanlines and crt filter might be able to be implemented, giving the less tech savvy user a better and more consistent experience.
