https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-rust-contrib is a good place to host such projects. The repo itself is owned by OpenTelemetry maintainers, but individuals can contribute/review/approve to each subcomponents. There are few such components already. |

Hello Opentelemetry-Rust,
I have a repo called opentelemetry-system-metrics and i wonder what would be the best way to maintain it in coordination with opentelemetry releases?
I feel like i sometimes do not have the times to sync my releases with opentelemetry as well as its breaking changes.
i'm okay with donating the project and i'm okay to keep on maintaining it but I would hope that their could be a way for us to make community maintained extension something part of Opentelemetry-Rust.
