Description
Describe the bug
If the "Start Minimized" option is checked in Plover, the next time Plover is started its menus will not appear in the menu bar (only the "Plover" app menu appears, not the "File", "Edit", and "Tools" menus). This makes it impossible to control Plover, including unchecking the "Start Minimized" option (since the "Show" command is under the "File" menu).
The only way to show Plover again when this happens is to quit Plover, open its config file ("~/Library/Application Support/plover/plover.cfg", can be opened in TextEdit), change the line "start minimized = True" to "start minimized = False", save the updated config file, and start Plover again.
This bug appears to have started with macOS 26.1 (I did not notice it with Plover 5.0.0 + macOS 26.0, and the bug appears with either Plover 5.0.0 or 5.1.0 + macOS 26.1).
Workaround: use Plover without the "Start Minimized" option checked, and close or minimize the window (without quitting Plover). Clicking the Plover app in the Dock shows all the expected menus.
To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Go to "Configure" -> "Interface" and check the "Start Minimized" option.
- Quit Plover
- Restart Plover
- See bug
Expected behavior
With the "Start Minimized" option checked, Plover should start without showing its windows. Clicking on the Plover app in the Dock should show all the expected menus, including the "File:Show" command which can be used to show Plover's windows.
