This survey aims to understand the impact of the software engineering interview process on neurodivergent candidates. Participation is anonymous, and disclosing neurodivergence is optional. The study seeks to determine if the interview process aligns with actual job tasks and environments, assessing whether reasonable accommodations could improve the experience and performance of neurodivergent individuals. We are looking for participants who will be asked to write a paper with the assistance of ChatGPT. Participants will also answer a pre- and post-study survey. The findings from these surveys will be used to better understand the query process behind using ChatGPT in the context of essay writing. The study was reviewed and accepted by the IRB (# 24-325) and is being conducted under the supervision of Dr. Sang Won Lee ([email protected]). Participants must be 1) 18 years or older. The Programming with Intelligent Machines & Environments Lab (PRIME Lab) at Virginia Tech is seeking individuals to participate in a pilot study focused on understanding group metacognition in small-group coding exercises. We are specifically looking for individuals with problem-solving experience or who have taken some problem-solving courses. Participants should be familiar with Python programming too. In this study, you will be grouped up by research team and you will be asked to solve some simple computer science problems within the group context. I am recruiting participants for a research study to gather feedback about a tool I am developing. Specifically, I am looking to test the usability of varying timeline visualizations that I have developed.
For this study, you will be asked to complete a short survey about your experiences reviewing security camera footage. Next, you will be completing different tasks using the interface with a randomly assigned timeline for each task. Lastly, you will be given an exit survey asking about your opinions of our interface and the tasks that you completed.

The Echolab at Virginia Tech is seeking students with basic Python programming experience for a study. Study participants will join an in-person session (60-90 minutes) where they will watch two ~15-minute programming lectures, take notes using a web application, and fill out surveys. An additional survey will be sent out one week after the in-person session. For their time, participants will receive a $30 Amazon gift card.
Participants don’t need to be Python experts, but should have experience at least equivalent to taking an introductory class like CS 1064, Intro to Python (e.g., comfort using if-then statements, defining functions, etc.).
Interested participants can fill out this form. The actual study will take place between November 18th and 22nd in the Gilbert Place building – we will reach out separately for scheduling, and will take eligible participants on a first-come first-serve basis.

The 3D Interaction group is inviting you to participate in a research study with mixed reality (MR) technologies. This study compares various methods of interaction with virtual data and information in Magic Leap 2 AR Headset.
Participants in the study will come to Room 3215, Gilbert Place, 220 Gilbert St, Blacksburg, VA 24060. Participants will try out several interaction techniques while seated, standing, or moving around in an indoor area. The entire experimental session will take about 75-90 minutes. Participation is entirely voluntary.
Participants need to be English speakers, at least 18 years old, and have normal vision with contact lens (glasses not supported). Participants should not have any symptoms or known recent exposure to COVID-19. Participation will be on a first come first serve basis.

We are researchers at Virginia Tech in search of programmers to participate in a brief survey to describe your experiences and challenges with using online resources to learn new concepts and keep up-to-date with existing knowledge, particularly related to algorithms. The survey should take no more than 15 minutes of your time. This work will motivate the design of tools and processes to improve how CS students and professionals learn about new topics in computing to keep up with advancing technologies. Title: Participant Needed for a Research Study on Learning Software engineering with Generative AI
The Code World, No Blanket Research Lab is seeking participants for a study using a system to support student learning software development life cycle with generative AI. Participants will use our proposed system to learn software development life cycle concepts throughout the controlled user study session, completing quizzes, surveys, and interviews to provide feedback on their learning experience. The study will be conducted in person. To be eligible for the study, you must:

● Have basic Python skills, but novice to software development life cycle
