Problem

Thank you so much for building Maccy — it’s such a lightweight, fast, and incredibly practical clipboard tool that I use every single day. I really appreciate all the hard work you’ve put into this project!

The main pain point I’m running into is that as my clipboard history grows, it gets harder to stay organized and quickly find what I need later. Right now, all copied items live in a single flat list, which can get cluttered with content from completely different contexts (like work code snippets, personal notes, temporary links, and so on).

I previously used CopyQ, and its tab/group-based management solved this perfectly. It lets you split clipboard items into separate tabs (e.g., "Work", "Personal", "Code Snippets"), so you can switch between contexts easily and keep unrelated content from cluttering your main view. This kind of organization would make Maccy even more powerful for anyone who handles lots of different types of copied content.

Solution

I’d love to see a similar tab/group management system added to Maccy! Here’s what I’m imagining:

  • The ability to create custom tabs/groups (e.g., "Work", "Recipes", "Code Snippets")
  • A simple way to move or assign clipboard items to specific tabs
  • An intuitive interface to switch between tabs (e.g., at the top of the Maccy menu, or via optional keyboard shortcuts)
  • Basic controls to rename, delete, or reorder tabs

I’ve attached screenshots showing how CopyQ’s tab system works to illustrate the idea. Even a basic version of this feature would make Maccy feel way more flexible for power users, while still keeping its signature speed and simplicity.

Thanks again for this amazing tool — it’s already my go-to clipboard manager, and this addition would make it perfect!
