Chinese is not the only language that needs to be converted. Korean and Japanese as well.
Are you trying to do romaji to hiragana to kanji conversion in osu?
Software keyboards exist for Android, iOS, as well as Windows and Linux. Well, in case of PC, it is hard to bring up the software keyboard in full screen mode.

The osu!framework also does a little bit of OS role for cross-platform, but I think it is out of scope for this.

You may be referring to the Chinese Pinyin input method? The reason why I proposed handwriting input is that I usually have a pen in my hand, so handwriting is of course more convenient.

You may be referring to the romanization. As a Westerner, you may not understand my dilemma. People who speak Chinese can understand and read most Japanese characters, but we use Chinese to read Japanese kanji. If we don't speak Japanese, we have no idea how these characters are read in Japanese. Conversely, the Japanese read Chinese in a similar way.

Handwriting IME is already available as a built-in feature in Windows 10/11 (third-party softwares are also available). However, the hard part is how to call up the IME in fullscreen mode. The candidates automatically pop up when typing with keyboard IMEs, but I don't see how it could work for handwriting.

btw if you want to reliably search Japanese you really need a Japanese IME, because some Chinese (simplified or traditional) and Japanese kanjis are different (e.g. 红 vs. 紅) and at least they are not compatible in song select search

I know about this problem of different ways of writing the same Chinese character. I think it is a Unicode error and ppy has no obligation to fix it. I hope to make a new IME in OSU because I think the old one is not good.
