I tried to play the game after like a month of not updating (yes im that lazy) and im kindof wishing i didnt update ;-; the game is on a black screen for a few seconds and then Boop back to desktop ;-;

What are your device specs? And have you installed the latest Android 14 update?

It was working just fine but i cant remember the exact version anymore ;-; i use a smasnug s21 ultra btw

It's a debug tool in the command line for developers.

Some instructions

• You need a computer and you can download it here: https://developer.android.com/tools/releases/platform-tools
• Once downloaded, extract it and drag the adb application to a command line and add {space}logcat to the end.
• You would then need to enable developer options in your mobile Android device, enable USB debugging, and then connect your phone to the computer.
• It will spit out a ton of logs, but that's expected. Open osu!, wait for it to crash.
  • CTRL-F "dotnet", "realm", "exception", "osu" maybe to find the interesting line.

If you don't wanna go through that process, there's some other indirect ways to resolving this.

1. If you care about your local osu! data, first backup your data located in Android\data\sh.ppy.osulazer\files to someplace on your computer. If not, just backup the logs folder.
   • On your next follow-up comment, attach the entire logs folder so I can ascertain what version you updated from.
2. Uninstall osu! and install the latest apk on GitHub / osu! site.
   • if it works, then something is wrong with your data that's making osu! crash
   • if it doesn't, download https://github.com/ppy/osu/releases/tag/2025.118.3. If that last version works, something is wrong with the latest update.
3. Whatever happens above, you would have to start over with a clean slate.

You can then access that backup data on desktop if needed (e.g. if you mapped or something) by clicking the Change folder location... on the osu! settings.

I reinstalled osu and it works now I didn't need to down grade :3 but I gotta start fresh but it's just a small price

Converting to discussion now for whoever else that may experience this issue in the future and is comfortable in debugging.

Renaming sh.ppy.lazer to sh.ppy.lazer.bak. and running the osu, fix the problem. revert the renamed folder back to the original to restore the data and osu can now run without problems.
Also i deleted all of my custom ruleset just to be safe.
