add_bounds option to open_mfdataset

It appears that the autogenerated bounds of my dataset has some roundoff error which is causing a subsequent function to throw an error because the data is non monotonic. You can see the roundoff error here:

  [ -1.8848168 ,  -0.9424084 ],
  [ -0.94240844,   0.        ],
  [  0.        ,   0.94240844],
  [  0.9424084 ,   1.8848168 ],

Any suggestions on how to prevent or correct this error?

There is no add_bounds kwarg to open_mfdataset. I suspect you're using a helper method from some other library.

The only add_bounds method I know of is in cf-xarray. The code is here: https://github.com/xarray-contrib/cf-xarray/blob/cb5e8889b314973a1bd8e95c005b3cb2c67061d5/cf_xarray/helpers.py#L39

Isn't there a "grid" file with the real bounds that you can use?

It seems to be there:

ds = xc.open_mfdataset(
            all_filepaths,
            add_bounds=["X", "Y"],
            decode_times=False,
            combine="nested",
            data_vars="minimal",
            coords="minimal",
	    compat="override",
	)

But I found a solution:
ds["lat_bnds"] = ds["lat_bnds"].round(decimals=6)

Oh - that's correct. Thanks for the clarification. In any case, there doesn't seem to be any more suitable solution than the one that I've found.
