The date display is always US formatted

Bug description

When toggling "Show date" the date is always displayed in MM-DD-YYYY format. Maybe it should set it according to some system setting? I'm doubting whether this is a bug or feature request.

Steps to reproduce

1. Go to the settings of the launcher
2. Check "Show date"
3. View the date
