Is there a way I could improve PS5 discs reading? #297
Comments
Can other tool (e.g. Isobuster) read the disc with no error? |
No, when trying with redumper, I got many errors around the same area. I tried using the refine command a few times, cycling the tray before each try, and on the last time the disc kept spinning very fast and couldn't read it at all, when I removed the disc, it was cracked. |
If possible, try to use UHD BD drive, not UHD friendly drive. |
Yep, definitely something wrong with the drive. With the new disc I got closer to the layer break but still couldn't read it. I canceled when it started to spin up the disc too much:
What drive would you recommend? |
Sorry, I can't recommend UHD BD drive because I don't have any drives. Drive list is here. (Japanese site) |
This is not directly related to DIC, but I would like to also support request #261. Maybe also an option to cycle the drive (open and close tray) before start dumping.
Now to my issue.
I only have one drive that can read BD-66/BD-100 discs (ASUS BW-16D1HT 3.02) . But I'm noticing that it has difficulties reading those types of discs. I was able to read one (Stellar Blade) with the /rr option, but I can't fully read another (Elden Ring), which is a brand new pristine disc. After a certain point the reading speed slows down a lot and I start getting the following errors:
One attempt
Another attempt
Also, those discs are unreadable (DIC cannot start dumping and the drive keeps spinning the disc up and down) if I leave them inside the drive for too long. I have to cycle the tray and start dumping immediately.
Is there anything I could do to improve reading on this drive?
