Not sure how plausible this:

Ideally you could choose the bot you want and then it would get parsed for variables (this would need a new API - possibly from plugin_shoebot), so you could change things using sliders etc.

There would then be a button to insert a copy into the drawing.
Possibly there would be an option to insert a bitmap copy instead.
