Gradle Android launchDebug fail with empty log

need some pointers on how to debug this, the log file is empty as shown. skip doctor, checkup, and skip export all work for this project, but somehow I can't get it to build run in Xcode. Skip version: 1.3.4, the project used to run/export fine until recently. I even tried creating a new skip project and manually copy over the custom code over the example code again, and it would build/run correctly for a while and then this error pops up without me changing anything seemingly... what am I missing?

The empty gradle log issue has been reported before, but we haven't yet tracked it down. Some people have reported that a reboot fixes the issue, but not always.

What happens if you try to run gradle -p Android launchDebug from a Terminal shell in your project's directory?

the problem report doesn't seem relevant, it's a bunch of warnings:

let me try rebooting first. does this mean I need to install some missing dependencies for java? why does export work fine while this doesn't?
