MPV gpu-context

By default on linux SMPlayer runs mpv with --gpu-context=x11gl. When i add the option --gpu-context=waylandvk the video opens in mpv in another window instead of SMPlayer.

I am not a Dev, but from my understanding SMPlayer doesn't support wayland in the same window. For this reason a separate windows is opened when you force --gpu-context=waylandvk.
I read somewhere that to implement wayland in the same windows there is a lot of work to do for smplayer devs.
SMPlayer is the best frontend I have ever used, and it has been already restructured deep to support MPV (previously it supported only mplayer), so I am confident that a some point also wayland will be support embedded within smplayer window.
Anyway let's wait for Devs answer to your question.

SMPlayer does support playing the video in the SMPlayer window using Wayland. For a long time, this didn't work for me either. Then I tried it again a few months ago and it works for me with the following settings:

• Options / General / General
  Multimedia Engine: Other... /usr/bin/mpv
• Options / General / Video
  Output driver: gpu-next
  The following checkboxes are checked: Direct rendering, Double buffering, Disable screensaver. The other checkboxes are unchecked.

I did not set any options in the command line settings of mpv.
