Wasn't there a way to snap fragments of video and/or audio?

Hello, I save a lot of screenshots from movies, but I'd swear that, in the past, I used SMP to save small segments of video and even just sounds to audio files. I even remember setting up different folders for images, videos and sounds.
But maybe I was using another player, it's been a long, long time.

Am I mistaken about this?
