SMP and fonts compatibilities

Hello,
I play clips downloaded from the internet, in various formats, especially MKV. I've never encountered a format that SMP doesn't play.
When I copy (select) and drop a video from a folder into the SMP window, regardless of the video format, playback starts.
This remains true even when I load a clip with unusual but recognized characters (Greek, Cyrillic, Extended Latin) such as Ɛ, ɯ, ϕ, δ, and Ћ.
However, after creating a playlist containing video files with such characters in their titles (or names), the playlist doesn't work; these videos don't play, as if SMP doesn't recognize them.
If I skip to the next video, whose name contains more common characters, the video plays.
It all seems to stem from SMP's inability to read certain fonts...
I can't edit video titles so SMP will read them.
Is there a solution to make SMP recognize these characters, since it used to?
Perhaps there were Windows updates that caused these problems, and maybe an SMP update is needed.

Try enabling the option "Pass short filenames (8+3)" in Preferences -> Advanced -> MPlayer/mpv and see if that helps.

There's been an improvement in that when I fill in the playlist window, if I select it for immediate playback, it plays. However, if I save this same playlist, and the file titles contain characters like the ones I mentioned, SMP still won't play it. This is surprising since these characters are supported by Windows 11, and because VLC and 5player don't have any issues and play these files in a playlist without any problems.
This is undoubtedly a problem that wasn't addressed in SMP's programming.
