Videos playing sideways

I am using SM Player 25.6.0 on Windows 10. Videos taken on my phone are playing sideways. However, they play with the right orientation on VLC Media Player. I see there is a per video context option, but I want a permanent one. I played around with all the various Output Driver and Hardware Decoding options, to no avail. I have also reinstalled the software, to no avail. Nothing about it on the Web.

Also, I remember using a two-key combination to make the counter timer to stay on screen, but I can't remember it now.

Hi there, thanks for the suggestion. I did install ver. 25.6.0.10388 (x64), as per your direction. Nothing has changed. It still plays sideways. Thank you.

What video output are you using? (preferences- > general -> video)

Direct 3d,. I tried every one in the list and this gave me the smoothest motion.

Can you test if any of the other video outputs display the video correctly?

I did already, but all the other ones also show it sideways. Moreover, the others actually distort the images. But VLC plays the same video correctly, but I really like Smplayer as the video quality is superior.

Can you provide a small sample video with this problem so that I can test?

Here they are. I have included both playback on Smplayer and VLC. I would be satisfied with a permanent option in Preferences to correct all videos, instead of for each video.

You can close this. It seems to be a problem with the GCam camera software.
