I don't believe that links in a record can capture the same information provided in the assets section.

So, while a core record can point to the resource(s) that it describes, it cannot provide detailed information about the structure of the resource (e.g. band information). In order to do that, a record would need to be extended which is encouraged in the OARec standard.

Thus, I would not say that the way you include "asset" information in a record is via links in the links section. I would say that assets are simply not described in a core record and that a core record needs to be extended to include all the information that a STAC assets section includes. Put another way, STAC extends records by adding the assets section which provides more detailed information about the resource that a record describes.

So, the entry in the "Collection" table about assets should probably be updated to say that Records do not have an assets section in the same way that a records does not have a stac_version member either.
