ESM module resolution

I have a problem with module resolution. The error I get is [ERR_UNSUPPORTED_DIR_IMPORT].
The problem is, that the ESM module resolution does not support directory imports. It expects
import {*} from 'json-joy/esm/json-crdt/nodes/index.js' instead of import {*} from 'json-joy/esm/json-crdt/nodes'.
This problem runs through the entire library. Has anyone a simple solution?
