[System18] Companies closing instead of entering receivership on partial cap maps #11577
Comments
Another one for @BlueChickenBoardGames. |
Thanks for the headsup! Will have to look into this. I assume recievership works properly for other maps? |
Receivership has not been implemented on other maps - bankruptcy is extremely rare in other partial cap versions. |
@roseundy Do you know if this is a general System18 problem, or just for these specific maps? |
The full-cap maps have a different rule: bankruptcy immediately ends the game (like 1830). |
FYI - 18GB has a similar rule:- companies in receivership 'hire' a train from the bank and withhold. |
In two recent games (#196330 and #196853) a player went bankrupt, and the corporation didn't have enough to buy a train.
The program is closing the company, but that isn't correct - it should go into receivership. The rules say:
"11.9 Receivership
This section generally applies to the incremental capitalization rules when a player has bankrupted and no player had enough shares to take over as president, but could also apply for a specific map's special rules in other cases.
Such a company with no president is in receivership. A company in receivership operates like normal by the banker, but lays no tiles, "leases" (temporarily uses for free) and operates the least expensive new train from the bank, always withholds its earnings, and buys the least expensive train from the bank or bank pool when it has enough money to do so.
Once a player takes over as president of the company, it is no longer in receivership."
