From what I understand, taxa are chosen like this:
stage 1: min -> stage 2: min
stage 1: 1se -> stage 2: 1se
But if stage 1 is mainly used as a filtering step to construct ratios for stage 2, we could also do this:
stage 1: min -> stage 2: 1se
Which might provide some extra sensitivity, while still benefitting from the 2 stage false-positive control.
