pyviennacl.backend does not exist

Hello,

I was trying the examples from the examples folder. Some of them don't work in my machine because "importError No module named backend". I am working on a Mac machine. I installed the library with "pip install pyviennacl".

I have done "pip install --upgrade pyviennacl" and pip states that the requirement already up-to-date.

What can I do?

By the way, in ipython if I autocomplete pyviennacl.b there is backend_finish but not backend

In [3]: pyviennacl.b
pyviennacl.backend_finish pyviennacl.bicgstab_tag

Thank you for your time and for this package! I've been looking for a "numpy" version on openCL for a long time.

Hi David,

Sorry for the long delay. Due to my studies, I haven't had an opportunity to finish the remaining bits for the next PyViennaCL release (mostly docs). The code in Git should work, if you can build it yourself (the instructions in the readme should be fairly straightforward!), and if you follow the examples corresponding to that branch, everything should work OK. If not, please file a bug report, and I will do my best to help.

I will try to build it myself soon. I'm still reading the methods in the library.
It is a pity for those of us that are very used to numpy that pyopencl does not broadcast. Nevertheless it seems super fast so Kudos for your work 👍 .
