Some time back, LLxprt had a really nasty flicker problem, even worse than Claude Code's. As a result, we began experimenting with OpenTUI and switching to it. The appeal was that OpenCode was already developing it, and it is written in Zig, which makes me happy. However, OpenTUI isn't terribly stable and pretty glitchy on various terminals. Meanwhile, the Gemini-cli team is to be commended for their excellent work in stabilizing Ink. LLxprt hasn't flickered in many releases, and the motivation to switch to OpenTUI is just gone. Our main focus isn't pretty UIs, it is to make autonomous generation simpler. So to that end, we're deprecating the package (--experimental-ui and nui) and planning to stick with Ink for the TUI part of the project.
If you have previously hated Ink I encourage you to give it another shot and notice we don't flicker -- ink doesn't have to.
