feature request: unread message count

Since we have notifications that come from the Crisp SDK and from our server, we'd like to be able to update the notification badge count on our app icon based on the combination of unread notifications from Crisp + the number of unread notifications from our server.

Currently, Crisp does not surface a method to know the number of unread messages (or even if there are unread messages).

Thus we cannot put a badge on our "chat" icon in the app, nor can we update the notification count on the app badge.

Hi @otusweb, thanks for the feature request!

Unfortunately, the underlying Crisp native SDKs (both iOS and Android) don't expose a getUnreadMessageCount() method or an onUnreadCountChanged event, so this isn't something we can surface in this library.

However, I'm currently working on a new SDK (which should be released soon) that provides a rich event system with callbacks like onMessageReceived and onChatOpened. This makes it possible to build a client-side unread count by tracking incoming operator messages and resetting when the chat is opened:
