For the record, CMake's FetchContent seems to work fine: include(FetchContent)
FetchContent_Declare(
nanobind
GIT_REPOSITORY https://github.com/wjakob/nanobind/
GIT_TAG v2.4.0
)

I am building a nanobind interface for nlohmann::json, the nanobind variant of pybind11_json. I cannot use all their tooling directly because the CMake config is not a part of the nanobind conda package. For pybind11 we have the necessary file here:
but the same
nanobindConfig.cmake
