Working "funny" on mint mate

I installed and used it on mint mate.. based on 22.04. None of my nvidia GPU are in use by xorg and the script complains about Xauthority. I don't think I have gdm at all either.

When I comment that check out I can set clocks but then I idle at 200mhz vs 0. Top power draw under load (inference) is lower as the max clock is lower.

The minimal clock should be zero with the latest version, so this issue should be fixed. That xauthority part is only interesting when running the script at bootup, e.g. with /etc/rc.local. Does this solve your issue?

I ended up just using systemD and turning off turbo (0-1695). Using the nvidia-smi commands directly.

nvidia-smi -i $gpu -pm 1 is the cause of the weird idle. No idea if it shows you your true idle watts or if it's related to persistence mode some other way.
