We're working a case (TS018476118) where a client upgraded from Zowe V2.14 to V2.18, and now they notice the following banner on the Zowe desktop logon dialog, which they are not happy about and want to change/remove:
“The Version 2 Desktop is now in maintenance status for the duration of the Zowe Version 2 maintenance schedule”
Is it possible for the client to remove this banner? if so, how do they do it?
I see from one of the office hours slides that Zowe V2 went into maintenance mode Q4 2024 and this lasts through Q1 2027. What exactly does maintenance status mean to clients?

The maintenance status means that the solution gets fixes and dependency updates to prevent potential vulnerabilities.
The release cadence is only once every 6 month.
There is no new functionality being introduced.
It is a release intended for clients who prefer stability compared to new features. For such clients the recommendation is to update to V3 when V4 is released e.g. around end of 2026
Hi @bobbydixon . Why is the user unhappy about this message? The presence or absence of the message does not change the reality of the software being in maintenance status. v1 is out of support, v2 is in maintenance, and v3 is the current release. Zowe v3's desktop does not have this message.
Hi @1000TurquoisePogs, thanks for the update. I am not sure why the client commented on the banner page, and since that case is now closed, v2 is in maintenance mode, and you say Zowe v3 does not have the banner page, unless the client, who has access to this github issue chimes in, I'm not sure this is still an issue.
