tap runs a DNS server, bind9, to serve DNS requests.
Notably, it serves *.csua.berkeley.edu. soda.berkeley.edu is a CNAME entry that points to soda.csua.berkeley.edu, campus IT provides this, not us.
Additionally, we are assigned IP addresses based on our MAC and ethernet ports (assigned and managed by ESG). As of April 2020, we have 4 assigned ports/IPs for the following machines: soda, tap, minifridge, and latte.
It has configuration stored in /etc/bind/. The configuration files are also located in https://github.com/CSUA/services-bind9 (root staff only).
