react-nativebundles its code using the metro bundler. For metro bundler we don't need to transpile our code. Its able to use our typescript source code directly. The big advantage of that is that when we have a bug in NewDot and need to debug onyx we can make changes in the original source code. This really improves the debugging experience (vs. looking through the transpiled code and making changes there). Ie. you can easily add
console.logsor change Onyx's code to see if it helps with the problem you're facing. This is really hard to do in the transpiled code (I usually make the changes inreact-native-onyx, build onyx and copy the onyx folder over toNewDot/node_modules/react-native-onyxwhich is quite the mundane process). Also, this is a very common practice. Every library in the react native ecosystem i know does this.
