I'd be ok to reorganize, but personally I like having shortcuts there. But if other people agree with this change, I'm ok with it too... |
I think it would have been good to have it this way in the good old days when there was only desktop, but now we are in the era where mobile is generally used. I wish we knew how many people use mobile devices :bilink since we don't know yet, my guess is at least 50% (I can say that I have never seen less than 75% in my own projects). Therefore we must take these users into consideration. We need to make menus more compact. #221 The feature here looks better on mobile, for example. |
Since no one objects, everyone accepts it. |
Even going one step further, I don't even think that no one will notice this change. They will not be able to appeal because they do not notice. Maybe if we had analytical data, I would show that I was right through them. As someone who has dealt with such things, I can say that no one uses such complex menus. |
If you're argument is that it should be better for mobile users (I like that), then a single link to a wiki page isn't an improvement, it's the the opposite (due to how the wiki is structured/rendered on mobile) |
This is a problem in Wiki that needs to be solved in Wiki. It is not right to solve the problems in Wiki here. In addition, it is better for menus to contain less items not only for mobile but for all devices. |
It may be possible to make the wiki better, but until then I don't think the website will be better by simply linking to the bad wiki. |
If I had a data on how much these links were used, I'm sure I could convince you. But I can't say anything but to say that the current state is more confusing. If this change is made, your discourse that people will be confused is just a assumption. |
If we had data on this I could show you how many people just give up when they reach the wiki front page without finding the section from this menu. Since we don't have data you are assuming just as much as I am. |
You are right, unless there is data, one assumption is at least as accurate as the other. For this reason, I want to analyze FreeCAD internet property for a long time and I am committed to establishing related software. However, behind my assumption, I have experienced experience about this website analysis for years. |
There are multiple links for documentation, but they are easier to understand and navigate than the wiki homepage, which I find confusing. That's why I think it would be better to unify the documentation menu. Relevant sections can be accessed much more easily from the wiki home page. I moved the unrelated Piravacy Policy to contrubute, which I think is more relevant there.
