Description

NEWS ON THE GO is a news app for anyone who is busy and has no time to sit down and catch up on the news or someone who wants an overview of what is happening around the world and even in their locality.

The app is designed with busy people in mind who are always on the move and also those who would like to skim through the news and know what is happening.

Installations

Guide to install News on the go

Clone this repository

git clone https://github.com/Juliet-Ol/newsgo

• [Get into the cloned directory]

cd newsgo

• [Create and activate your virtual environment:]

mkvirtualenv virtual

• [Install dependancies within your active environment]

Environment variables:

Create a file called .env in the root folder

(virtual)$ touch .env

• [Add the following lines to the file as seen in config.py file]

NEWS_API_TOP_HEADLINES_SOURCES = 'https://newsapi.org/v2/top-headlines/sources?apiKey={}' NEWS_API_TOP_HEADLINES_SOURCE = 'https://newsapi.org/v2/top-headlines/sources={}?apiKey={}' NEWS_API_EVERYTHING = 'https://newsapi.org/v2/everything?q={}&apiKey={}'

Start the flask server

(Virtual)$ flask run

or

(Virtual)$ python3 run.py
