Probably caused by:

• Disallow registering interpreters for miscellaneous binary formats #249

After running,

sudo sysctl fs.binfmt_misc.status=1

file permissions (and Firefox starting) were back to normal.

Undone fs.binfmt_misc.status=1 for now as per commit referenced above.

Can be re-enabled if there is a solution.
