BrightOver is a very simple utility that makes it possible to adjust the brightness of your screen, using accessible switch interfaces compatible with Apple's VoiceOver facility, such as the Tecla Shield. Although VoiceOver is designed primarily for users with visual impairments, it also provides mechanisms for users with mobility impairments to navigate many parts of the iOS interface through accessible switches or their own power wheelchair joysticks. However, some parts of the iOS interface are difficult to control with this approach. Slider controls, such as the one used to control the screen brightness, can present a difficulty to switch users because they require use of less common VoiceOver gestures (swipe up/down) to change the slider's value.

BrightOver provides easier switch access to the brightness slider. Instead of a swiping gesture to change the value, BrightOver uses pushbuttons to increase or decrease the brightness. Because activating a button requires only the more usual VoiceOver gestures, it is easier to accomplish through a switch interface than interacting with a slider.
